Acute bacterial prostatitis



Acute bacterial prostatitis
Diagnosis:
Pain → perianal radiating to tip of penis.
       → pain in micturition.
       → pain in defication.
May be acute urine retention.
Urine analysis → pus and may be RBCs.
CBC → leucocytosis.
Most common G -ve infection.
Treatment : 1- specific (antibiotic → quinolone).
                   2- drugs for increased frequency of urine.
                   3- analgesics (pain).
                   4- instructions.
1- Antibiotics:
Quinolone group (see acute pyelonephritis).
As Ciprofar – ciprocin – rancif – ciprofloxacin.
But it is better to start with gentamycin 80 mg amp. 1×2×2 or flumox 1 gm vial 1×3×2 in first 2 days and then continue with quinolone group tab. 1×2
2- Drugs for increased urine frequency: (flavoxate)
Genurin tab. 1×3
3- Analgesics: (Declofenac Na or K)
Oflam 25 – 50 mg tab. = voltaren = olfen
Cataflam 25 – 50 mg tab. = adwiflam cap.
Brufen tab. 200 – 400 – 600 – tab. (Ibuprofen).
4- Instructions:
No sexual intercourse for one and half month.
No fluid intake.
